Helping Transform a Neighborhood: Poppleton II Apts, Baltimore, MD
In partnership with Hampstead Development Group, the National Housing Trust - Enterprise Preservation Corporation closed on construction financing for Poppleton II Apartments in September, 2010. Poppleton II represents the second phase of a four-phased redevelopment plan involving a total of 278 units in West Baltimore.
The Poppleton II phase includes fully redeveloping a 96-unit cooperative into 94-units and rehabilitating 17 adjacent townhomes, preserving a total of 111 units as long-term decent safe affordable housing. Ongoing rental subsidy will be provided by the original 96-unit HAP contract and new project-based vouchers for the additional units. The community will be affordable to households earning at or below 50% of area median income.
