Low Income Housing Tax Credits & Sustainable Development in Nebraska, 2016

Nebraska's 2016 Qualified Allocation Plan awards points for green building.

Green

Nebraska’s 2016 QAP awards a maximum of 6 points for green building. Points are available for Energy Star rated mechanical equipment, timer controlled or photocell lighting, carpet with recycled-content, low-VOC paints and finishes, water conservation techniques, recycling services, or passive solar building design. 2 points are available if the development will include a geothermal (ground source), closed loop heat pump system.

Sustainable Communities

Nebraska's 2016 Qualified Allocation Plan includes a 33% set-aside for the Collaborative Resources Allocation for Nebraska (CRANE) Program. The CRANE set aside can be used for housing developments that are part of a neighborhood redevelopment plan (which plan has been approved by appropriate city or county authorities) for which there is a significant and material public investment that also include a minimum of 10% market rate units.
